The Metro Atlanta Lacrosse Association (MAYLA) is a non-profit organization and the local chapter of US Lacrosse -- a 501(c)(3) based in Baltimore that serves as the national governing body for the sport. MAYLA supports and promotes the game of lacrosse at all levels in its chapter area, which includes the Northern Georgia and Metro Atlanta Area. MAYLA works closely with the Georgia Lacrosse Foundation to maintain the Georgia Lacrosse Hall of Fame, which honors the great players, coaches, officials, promoters and others, both men and women, who have made significant contributions to the game in Georgia. These great men and women are deserving of the highest recognition.
MAYLA was formed in 2009 as result of the merger of the Georgia Youth Lacrosse Association and the Georgia Middle School Lacrosse League.
Lacrosse in the Metro Atlanta area at all levels is growing quickly and widespread. The game is played at the youth level in both Select and Recreation formats, in high schools, at the college level, in post-collegiate clubs.
Throughout the year, MAYLA volunteers strive to develop and educate coaching through clinics, coaching seminars and other educational initiatives. MAYLA fully supports the Positive Coaching Alliance. All MAYLA coaches are trained and certified as Double Goal Coaches where they lead young boys and girls through character education while developing athlete's skills and fundamentals.
