Hello Marc - We are excited to have you guys joining us too! Macon has been added to the "Members" page. If there is anymore info you'd like to add to the link let me know. Thanks!
Our boys and girls are very excited about joining MAYLA for the Spring season. Is there any chance we can get our club listed on the member page? (http://www.maconlacrosse.org) I agree with hobbitt, how soon before schedules will be ready?
The URL was corrupted by the ). The web address for our site is http://www.maconlacrosse.org
Schedule will be posted tomorrow.
Will the MAYLA rec schedule be posted or sent out tonight or given out at tomorrow's meeting? Does anyone know?
I'm trying to help a friend who has a HS boy and a MS girl. They have some experience and are looking for some camps and also summer teams to play with. The teams that my kids are on have already had tryouts (or are about to --- in the case of the girls). Is there any central place where she can learn about summer travel teams [much like this forum speaks to the Spring and Fall teams]? Thoughts/ideas? Seems that teams are popping up all over but field space and coaching are valid constraint… Read More
Hello Cathy - Unfortunately I do not think there is one central resource that has all that sort of information available. Depending on the area of town your friend is or where she is willing to drive her kids to practice is a big deciding factor. It also depends on the players' experience level and summer availability for time commitment. I know of several boys and girls local clubs if you want to direct your friend to me for more details, I'll be happy to help.
North Paulding Wolfpack Chix U13 (6th & 7th grade girls) has space open for another 6 girls. We practice at the YMCA Cedarcrest Fields on Cedarcrest Road in Dallas. Our website is www.northpauldinglax.com. SIgn up now if interested. Practice begins January 24th!
I am looking for a team for my son Andrew for this spring. We live in Buckhead near Lenox Mall. Andrew is 12 years old and in the 6th grade. He has never played Lacrosse before but wants to learn. I can be reached at sarah_spicher@yahoo.com or by phone at 678-640-2962. Thank you. Sarah Spicher
Hello Sarah - You may want to look at the "members" on our MAYLA website and see who might be closest to your location and directly contact that program. Let me know if you still need help with finding a team. Thanks!

Hope you don't mind a post about selling equipment. Apologies in advance if this is a problem.
I have a pair of Practice Partner Silverline Lacrosse Goals, new in box never opened. They were bought from Sports Authority (link below) so you can get and idea of them. Got them with a discount so just trying to recoup cost of $175 for the pair.

My 7th grade daughter (and a few of her friends maybe) are looking for a place to play this spring. She is a goalie and has some experience and a lot of skills. She has been a softball catcher for 3 years and has very good skills to be a lacrosse goalie. We are located just outside the Perimeter in Sandy Springs. AYL may not have 7th and 8th grade girls group this year so we are looking for something.
Thanks
Hello Jim, You might want to check out the MAYLA programs on our website and see who is closest to your area. You might consider Northside Youth (The Surge) or some other program within your vicinity. Let me know if you need additional help finding a team. mcnabbp@bellsouth.net or admindirector@metroatlantalax.com
Is MAYLA going to change to age or keep the grade restrictions for the spring season. I have a player that is in 5th grade and turning 11 on Dec. 29th. What team will he play on in the spring?
Hello Jeff - MAYLA is keeping the grade restrictions for this season but going back to be aligned with US Lacrosse with the age divisions as of Fall 2012. Hope this helps...sorry for the late reply!
my 10 year old son is interested to learn how to play, has had limited exposure. we live in buckhead, where would the closest place to join be (we are new to Georgia) and is it too late for this fall?
West Forsyth Youth Lacrosse (Junior/U-13 -- ZAPP) has had a late cancellation for our game this weekend. Was hoping to try and find a team that would be willing to come and play. Field is already reserved at Fowler Park for 11:30 this Saturday morning (10/1/11) with referees/EMT also still scheduled. We would also be interested in doing a home and home scenario if that works for you. Please let me know asap if you could play. Schedule is too short already to possibly lose another game. The Harrison Junior team would like to add a few additional games this fall. We have field space available almost any time. Please contact me if your team is interested in playing.

Hoping stick checks in 6-8 year-old Bantam Division will be called like basketball fouls. If it’s deliberate and clean (delivered directly to hands or stick) with 2 hands on the stick, it’s permissible…Otherwise, flagged.
Would appreciate any ideas for a place for my 13 year old (turns 14 in March 2012), 8th grade daughter to play. She has some experience (GA Tech 4-day lacrosse camp this past summer, plus played at sleepaway camp in S. Carolina this summer). She loves the game, has all the equipment needed, and just needs a place to play this fall. We live in Buckhead but might be willing to travel some distance if necessary. Have tried AYL but they're full. Thanks!
Hi Michelle,
If you have not yet found a place for your girl to play, please check out www.jrladyknights.com. We're just off 400 in Roswell. :-)
Please help me find a place for my 14 year old son to play lacrosse this fall. He is new to the game, and he loves it. AYL is full. I do not mind driving a distance for him to play ... I am just having a hard time finding anyplace where he can play. Please help. THANKS!
Sprayberry Jr boys program has room. We practice at jj Daniel middle school on Tuesday and Thursday 6 to 8. Come out and sign up only 135 plus 12 for shorts.

West Cobb Lacrosse, Allatoona, and Hillgrove all have programs for a boy player in Grades 1,2,3. West Cobb Lacrosse is the only program that fields teams for girls in grades 1,2,3.
North Paulding Lacrosse, which has their home games and practices at the YMCA Cedarcrest fields, also has youth programs for boys grades 1-7, as well as girls in grades 1-5. Our girls program is new this Fall 2011 season.
Jeff-
The date will be August 31st. There will be a note out tomorrow with all the pertintent dates for Fall deliverables

Hello Rob - As far as a player "playing up" in an older division (assuming it is within the rules to begin with) there is a 3 game "grace period" where the team roster is not locked down in the beginning of each season. After the 3 games, the rosters are locked down and the child must play on the roster he/she is listed on after those three games. Hope that helps.
If a child wishes to play up a division, at what point is that child locked into staying in the older division? My understanding is that once the child plays a game in the older division they must stay there for the remainder of that season and subsequent season.
Is there a cut off on the number of practices or weeks that prevents the child from playing back in is age group?
I have a 6th grade daughter interested in participating in the 2011 fall season. we live in acworth, and I have her on the waitlist for west cobb lacrosse, how long does it usually take to know if she will be able to participate? or should i register her with a different league?
Hello Callie - The wait list for programs probably varies for each program. While you wait to hear from West Cobb, you may want to reach out to other programs in your area to be sure your daughter will have a place to play in the fall.
Yes, there is LB3 and DoubleStixx that I know of. I'm sure there are others as well.
Hi David-
The MAYLA divisional structure is based on grade. Our divisions are:
Bantam - Grades 1-2-3
Lightning - Grades 4-5
Junior - Grades 6-7
Senior - Grades 8.
We do not have an age control provision based on date of birth. I hope this helps.
My 15yr old son, a 10th grader at Tucker High School is interested in participating in Fall Lacrosse. This will be his 1st time playing Lacrosse. His interest peaked when my 11yr old son, now a 5th grader completed several very fun & exciting summer Lacrosse games wtih the Decatur Recreation league.
Please feel free to contact me.
Thanks,
Harold @ pack70cubs@yahoo.com
Hi Harold-
MAYLA is an orgnaization that guides and governs youth lacrosse (Grades k-8th). High School aged players do not participate in MAYLA Programs. I would suggest contacting Tucker High School or other surrounding High School programs to see what might be available to your older son.
THanks,
Jeff
Is there any thought to adding a U11 Select league? With all the U11 teams in each district, it shouldnt' be a problem.
Hi Dwayne-
Thanks for your suggestion. I would recommend that you present your suggestion to the program underwhich you participate, and ask them to present this issue at our next Membership meeting. This issue was discussed very quickly at our last membership meeting and there was not much interest from the members in attendance for MAYLA to consider.
Thanks
Jeff
Does Mayla have a specific doctor you use to administer baseline online test for concussions?
Kim - we recommend contacting the folks at Georgia Sports Medicine.

We currently play out of Newtown park but are looking for a new home for my daughter to play in Gwinnett she will be 11 this month? Any suggestions?
Stan I would say that if you are looking for a place in Gwinnett to play that the Mill Creek girls program is probably the best youth program in the county for girls. If that is to far I would also recommend either Collins Hill or Grayson.
Sorry...Girl.. She plays with the spring Decatur rec team but they are not having a fall team. She played with the U15 team this past spring. There was some talk of a fall team at the end of the spring season, but nothing has been forthcoming lately...and the city rec has said they wont sponsor one (in the fall).
Dan - try Craig Maxwell with Decatur / Inman Park. Email me at marketingdirector@metroatlantalax.com for his contact information. He's putting together a Girls U15 team to play out of Decatur this fall since Decatur is not going to field a team
Am trying to find a team for fall for an experienced, hard-working 7th grader. Need practices to be within a half hour of downtown Decatur -e.g., Intown, within 5-10 miles of 285 (on east side of metro), western Gwinnett, etc.
Dan - male or female player? I know someone currently putting together a girls team to play out of Decatur.
I live in Kennesaw, Ga (Legacy Park) and have been trying to find info for a team for a 7-year-old girl. Is there one? Have 2 other girls interested. Would be willing to coach (although I know nothing about the sport) if there is a need to build a team...
Melanie- you can contact me at jflowers99@aol.com. West Cobb Lacrosse. We would love to talk to you about West Cobb Lacrosse. We have 2 teams currently for girls grades 1-2-3.
Hi Molly-
You have some great options available to you that are all in that immediate area. All are great programs with fantastic coaches for your daughter.

Looking for a fall and winter league for my 14 year old daughter. I'm wanting her to get extra practice before her HS spring tryouts. Thanks
Molly - where are you located? We can narrow down where to direct you based on your location.
We have U 13 player that will be going to the new Bethany Bend High school in Alpharetta. Is there a team available for him this fall
Cliff-
Roswell and Alpharetta parks and Rec have two very good programs for your child. One option that may make sense for you is Newtown Park's Fall program.
Cliff, check out bethanybendfeederlax.com.
The first post of "The Mesh" is here. MAYLA looks forward to the 2011 Fall season. Thanks to all programs that participated in our membership meeting last night at Georgia Tech.
